Personality: Fighting Fefnir likes to fight. This likely comes as a surprise to very few people.

If that sounds too simple a description, well. Fefnir is a rather simple person. He has little use for obfuscation, or hiding his thoughts. He's loud, brash, and very open about what he thinks. For an honored general of Neo Arcadia, he's considerably more crude than you might think.

He's never been the type to think too deeply about things, either. Let Harpuia have his sage wisdom, and Phantom have his hidden scheming. Fefnir's a soldier- all he needs to know is who he's fighting.

While Fefnir is certainly capable of thinking for himself, and certainly has a tendency to do things his own way when he can, he's always tended to let others lead him, and handle the more complicated issues. To someone who he believes is worthy of his respect, like Master X, he's fiercely loyal. He's willing to follow orders, even if he personally finds them distasteful or questionable.

Certain orders, like air strikes and bombing. Fefnir believes combat should be man to man. Or, reploid to reploid as it generally is. He finds such indirect methods of combat distasteful, somewhat cowardly, and utterly lacking in any fun. Because, as stated; Fefnir loves to fight.

Possibly a bit too much, really. When he finds an opponent he truly enjoys battling against- namely Zero- he gets a bit obsessed. He's willing to put a mission at risk to satisfy his own craving for battle, so long as he doesn't think it's TOO important.

Despite his rather violent behavior though, Fefnir's never viewed himself as a bad person. No, he's always thought of himself as a hero. He's one of the Four Guardians, protectors of Neo Arcadia and all of humanity. Fefnir would never dream of raising his weapon against someone that wasn't his enemy. ...At least, not in any kind of lethal capacity. He has no problem with sparring or training.

Even before he became known as one of the Four Guardians, general of Neo Arcadia, he's done his best to protect and help people. It's what he was created for, after all. Before he got the title of 'Fighting' attributed to him, he was a worker, using his strength, and resistance to elements due to not being a squishy human, to try and improve the world and build new things, and make things better. Destroying Mavericks wasn't always his primary job- but once things had stabilized and a massive city had been built, he found himself taking great pleasure in leading missions against the occasional Maverick reploid. While such instances weren't nearly as widespread without the influence of various viruses, Reploids were still individuals with their own wills, and could still decide to turn against society. It was also thanks to Fefnir's leadership that a lot of the infrastructure for Neo Arcadia's military might was established, at the request of the humans. Just in case another war did start.

Until the formation of the Resistance though, very little of it was used. As a military general, Fefnir didn't exactly believe in using excessive force. Powerful and direct, maybe, but never anything that would put innocents at risk. His thirst for battle isn't so strong that he'd lose sight of his own justice.

His loyalty and trust, however... that may have clouded his view a bit. He did assist in the destruction of thousands of innocent Reploids after all, when the energy shortage began. He never really cared for it. It was a rather complicated issue, though. There just wasn't enough energy for everyone. Master X had explained how it was necessary for some to be sacrificed, or else they'd run out and EVERYONE would die. And that, between humanity and reploids, they had a duty to protect humanity first. Fefnir grudgingly agreed, and since he certainly didn't have any better solutions, he put his trust in Master X's judgement. Honestly, he was rather glad when the Resistance was formed. They'd made themselves official enemies of Neo Arcadia that way, and having them killed in battle left him feeling less conflicted than having them gathered up into retirement centers.

It's doubtful that he'd make that mistake again, though. When he learned of just a few of the things that his Master X had done- appointing a madman head of Neo Arcadia, bombing one of their own districts to achieve their goals, removing the Guardians from their positions- Well. He's unlikely to trust someone so completely and blindly ever again.

Backstory: So. Earth.

Where Fefnir comes from, it's, well. Little more than a hellhole, to be honest. War after war after war after war after war has left the land ravaged, scoured of nearly all life except in a few certain areas. There's barely even any plants left- nearly all of them now are synthetic in origin.

That's where Fefnir comes in. He, and the other three Guardians, were based off the designs of one of the world's greatest heroes and the founder of what would become the greatest and only city in the world. Fefnir was built for two purposes- to help clean up the world after it's most recent war, and to help protect it should anything else arrive to threaten it. Of those two jobs, Fefnir greatly preferred the second.

However, no such threat arose for a long, long time. Humanity and Reploids had been given a chance to rebuild, and with that chance they created a sprawling utopia. A peaceful haven after centuries of endless conflicts, called Neo Arcadia.

Things just might have stayed like that, had a few things not happened... the first one, being that some kind of girl, an apparent prodigy saw the problems that the people were facing. Though things were peaceful, they were still trying to make do in a ravaged world. Resources were scarce, and some were barely getting by. So, this little girl created a seemingly perfect copy of the city's original leader, X. Somehow.

The 4 Guardians knew that this X wasn't the original, of course. They were one of the few who even knew the location of the real X, who'd sealed his body away to put an end to the wars. They were created after that, and had never actually known him. But this copy that had been built, certainly seemed to have the strength of will and the drive to be a leader- and definitely seemed strong enough to be the real one. With the humans that they protected also insisting that he be made the new leader of Neo Arcadia, Fefnir and the rest of the Guardians agreed to serve this new X.

Over the years, Fefnir would come to trust this new Master X completely. He was a loyal warrior. So, when Neo Arcadia began to suffer an energy shortage, and Master X ordered the destruction of non-essential Reploids so that the machines wouldn't be wasting energy that could be used for humans, Fefnir didn't question his orders. None of the Guardians did.

Reploids were gathered up and 'retired.' Those that resisted were retired by force, by the Guardians and their armies- and the number of Reploids resisting grew by the day. Before long, there was a full blown Resistance, organized by the girl who'd created Copy X in the first place.

They weren't exactly doing well, however. Almost all these Reploids were workers and civilians, arming themselves as best they could. They stood little chance against Neo Arcadia, who had Reploids built almost exclusively for combat, like Fefnir.

That is, until the resistance managed to unearth a legend. Zero, who'd been the original X's closest friend, and who had fought alongside him many times. All of a sudden, Neo Arcadia's forces were being decimated.

This interested Fefnir. A lot.

Fighting weak Resistance soldiers wasn't any fun for him. There was no real challenge to it. Fighting this Reploid that was destroying all their grunts, though. That was exciting.

So, he organized a little duel. Sending a bunch of mechaniloids and Pantheons towards the Resistance base, so he could watch Zero fight. When Zero inevitably destroyed them all, Fefnir came down to fight him one on one. And lost.

Fefnir wasn't bothered by this loss, though. No, he found it invigorating. It was thrilling, and exciting to fight such a skilled opponent. Resistance be damned, Fefnir was eager to fight Zero again. He dearly hoped that none of the other Guardians or their forces would be able to stop him, so that Fefnir could get his rematch. And fortunately, Zero seemed to be doing well.

...A bit too well, in fact, as Zero managed to get into the main areas of Neo Arcadia. Getting close enough that his Master might be at risk. Fefnir and the rest of the Guardians tried to stop him again- one of them even self destructing to try and take Zero with him. Even though Fefnir was excited to be fighting Zero again, he was still concerned about Master X. When Zero defeated them all one on one, Fefnir was prepared to fight alongside Harpuia and Leviathan, the two remaining Guardians, to stop him before he could do anything once he reached X's chambers.

However, their Master dismissed them instead, deciding to fight Zero himself. A decision that resulted in Copy X's destruction.

Things changed after that. Harpuia was forced to take on the mantle of leader. The Resistance's victories and Neo Arcadia's disarray allowed them to grow, and expand, with more and more Reploids joining them.

Fefnir barely cared about any of that, though. He didn't even care as much as he thought he would about Master X's destruction. He just wanted to fight Zero again, and Zero had practically vanished.

The occasional Pantheon squad would find and engage him, but Zero would destroy them and already be long gone by the time anyone else would show up.

It took a whole year for Zero to really surface again, appearing at the new Resistance base and leading strikes against Neo Arcadia again, clearing the way for the rest of the Resistance to lead its own attack- Operation Righteous Strike.

Unfortunately, when a collection of civilian Reploids tries to go up against 3 military Reploids based off one of the most powerful Reploids to ever exist... It doesn't end well. The operation was a complete failure, largely in part to Fefnir and the other Guardians. The only survivor was the Resistance's current commander, a Reploid named Elpizo, saved by Zero at the last moment. Fefnir would've challenged Zero to another fight right there, if Harpuia hadn't stopped him, and if Zero hadn't transferred away to stop an aircraft about to bomb the Resistance's base.

So far as Fefnir could tell, Elpizo went rogue after that- though Fefnir barely cared, really, even when he'd been sent to capture him. When Zero showed up, he was all too happy to forget his mission and challenge Zero again.

Even when Elpizo infiltrated Neo Arcadia, and both him and Zero technically had the same goal of stopping him, Fefnir still didn't care. Partially because Elpizo was some unimportant peon, even before joining the Resistance, but mostly he just wanted to fight. He gleefully challenged Zero again in a powered up form, letting the other Guardians take care of Elpizo. And again, he lost. As did the other Guardians, allowing Elpizo to achieve his goal- destroying the body of the original X, who'd been sealed away, along with the being which had nearly destroyed the world.

Zero managed to stop Elpizo, but that didn't change the fact that the catalyst of those wars, the Dark Elf, was now free. But for the time being, it seemed to have vanished. There was no real way to track it, and it wasn't causing any problems. Not only that, but Harpuia seemed to be having a change of heart, leading less and less attacks on the Resistance, while the girl who started it was getting closer to solving the energy crisis that had started all this in the first place. It was entirely possible that things would've become peaceful again.

Of course, that was before the arrival of Omega. After a satellite landed out in the frozen Tundra, Leviathan and Fefnir had gone to check it out, only to find him there- a towering Reploid, long since exiled into space for his role in the wars. Unfortunately, the two of them stood next to no chance, and were beaten. Badly.

Really, really badly. While events continued to unfold, the two were effectively unconscious and receiving repairs. They likely would have been completed faster, had Neo Arcadia not been focused entirely on recovering the Dark Elf. They likely would have stayed that way, until the appearance of X. The real, original X, as a cyber elf, and their fallen comrade Phantom, appearing in what was essentially their dreams, and informing them of the situation- Omega and Weil needed to be stopped. And, even if Fefnir still wanted to fight Zero, he wasn't going to disobey an order from his Master- which the original X unquestioningly was, even if he'd never met him. Especially when the stakes were so high.

After rescuing Harpuia, who was under attack by Neo Arcadian forces, after rebelling against it's new leader, Dr. Weil, the man who created the Dark Elf and Omega, and who had also been exiled, Fefnir learned more details about what had happened while he was out. That didn't particularly matter at the time, though.

What mattered was that the Guardians were reunited, and fighting on the side of justice- true justice, rather than the false justice they'd been deluded into following for so many years. They arrived in time to help against Omega's true form, standing on Zero's side, giving him the opportunity to land the finishing blow, and... were all destroyed by Omega's dying explosion for their trouble.

Or so you'd think, anyway, had mysterious dimensional forces not apparently swooped in to rescue Fefnir and deposit him somewhere else.

In-Character 3rd person sample: Who'd have thought that there'd basically be another Zero under all that armor, huh? Fefnir certainly hadn't. Of course, he's also been out of it for a while.

When Fefnir had first fought Omega, he never dreamed that he'd end up standing behind Zero like this, backing him up against a common foe. In his mind, Zero was always going to be his enemy. His rival that he'd one day grow strong enough to finally best.

Maybe he'd have to reevaluate that thought. And a whole lot of other ones, if what Harpuia's told him is true. But, still... he can't help but feel his trigger finger itch just at the sight of Zero, though, watching the legendary warrior step forward and finish off Omega with a final slash of his saber.

Aw well. Once this was over and done with, he could challenge Zero again. Maybe it could be a friendly spar for once, instead of-

Fefnir's train of thought is suddenly interrupted, as Omega suddenly erupts in a burst of hellfire. The last thing he sees is the Dark Elf moving to surround Zero, and then whiteness, and then... blue?

Yeah, those are blue skies he's looking up at. And is he laying on... grass? Green, organic grass?

Just where the hell was he, and what happened?
